Risk for Ineffective Surviving?

Readiness for Enhanced Thriving

Nursing has been fantastically rewarding for me. It has taken me to the bedside, away from the bedside (and back again), up in a helicopter, and into advanced practice.

But there were times I felt all those “normal” fears and regrets.

Within Abnormal Limits is a blog sharing all the things I wished I had known earlier in my career, built on the following pillars:

1) Hemodynamically & Financially Stable

2) Shift Happens: Making Sense of Off-Shift Life

3) Continue to Monitor: Burnout & Self-Care

4) EBP: Experience-Based Practice & Education

You can survive nursing.

And with a little support and knowledge?

You can thrive.

Nursing isn’t a normal job.

The hours can be long. The work can be emotionally, mentally, and physically demanding. The learning curve as a new nurse can be steep. And the amount of responsibility you carry can literally be life or death for another human being.

It can be normal to think to yourself:

  • “What did I get myself into?”

  • “I don’t know if I’m cut out for this.”

  • “I regret becoming a nurse.”

  • “How can I get away from bedside nursing?”
